One man was shot and killed and another is in critical condition following a Sunday morning altercation at a North Wilson Road home.

Kobie Long, 20, of Radcliff, was pronounced dead at Hardin Memorial Hospital. The second victim was transported to University Hospital in Louisville and is in critical condition, according to Radcliff Police Department Chief Jeff Cross.

Long died from a single shot to the abdomen, Hardin County Deputy Coroner Shana Norton said.

Cross said the men forced their way into the home in the 1100 block of North Wilson Road and were shot when they were confronted by two men who were at the home. Cross said the same man in the home shot the two intruders.

RPD received a call at 3:29 a.m. on shots fired.

"We believe a burglary was taking place and that's the reason for the altercation,'' Cross said. "It was not a random act. The public has no reason to be concerned.''

He said the four men knew each other and had been together prior to the shooting.

Both men were shot inside the home.

No charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.

This was not a burglary. It was an alcohol fueled confrontation of family.

Who got shot? The robbers or the residents?
