An Upton man was booked Thursday afternoon into the Hardin County Detention Center following his arrest earlier this week in Barren County on charges related to prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor.
Larry R. Oldham, 37, was arrested Monday after the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch executed an arrest warrant on him.
Oldham was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation, according to a KSP news release. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after reportedly discovering the suspect communicating with a juvenile online in an attempt to obtain nude images. Oldham is accused of sending nude images of himself to the juvenile.
Oldham is charged with two counts of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor/ peace officer regarding a sex offense. Each charge is a Class D felony punishable by one to five years in prison, if convicted.
He also is charged with three counts of distribution of obscene material to a minor. Each count is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison, if convicted.
He was transferred from the Barren County Detention Center to Hardin County.
He being held in lieu of a $5,000 partially secured bond. He is set to appear today in Hardin District Court.
