The TRIO Educational Opportunity Center at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will host its annual College Affordability and Resource Expo, or CARE, on July 16.

CARE’s purpose is to improve awareness and knowledge of ways to make a college education more affordable by connecting attendees with resources, both on campus and within the community. The event will begin with a series of presentations by representatives from various organizations, including ECTC’s financial aid office and bookstore, the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority and the Kentucky Career Center.

Topics to be addressed range from free application for federal student aid completion and federal work study to state financial aid and opportunities available through local agencies such as the Career Center.

The free event takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the main campus of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, on the second floor of the Regional Postsecondary Center. Following presentations, attendees can enjoy light refreshments and the option to talk one on one with representatives from participating organizations. There also will be a drawing for door prizes.

Any questions regarding CARE can be directed to Sarah Furnas, who can be reached at 270-307-4118 or, or Mindy Dye, who can be reached at 270-706-8876 or
