Sixth-grade students from eight local schools gather this weekend at St. James Catholic Regional School for the 2019 Kentucky Colonels Sixth Grade Showcase.

The event is Saturday and includes written assessments, quick recall and composition competitions.

“We’re excited to host the Sixth Grade Showcase and look forward to welcoming students from surrounding schools,” said James Luttrell, St. James learning consultant. “Our students have worked hard to prepare for this competition and are eager to participate.”

Other than St. James, participating schools include David T. Wilson from Ekron and Flaherty elementary schools; and Breckinridge County, East Hardin, James T. Alton and T.K. Stone middle schools. Written assessments cover mathematics, science, social studies, language arts and arts and humanities. Quick recall begins at noon.

The event is sponsored by the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels and administered by the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition.
