  • Radcliff father pleads guilty to abusive spanking

    A Radcliff man accused of abusing his 2-year-old son pleaded guilty Tuesday to an amended charge.

    Ethan Stenhouse, 22, was arrested last April on a charge of first-degree criminal abuse after police said the child’s mother reported the 2-year-old had sustained extensive bruising on his buttocks while in Stenhouse’s custody.

    Per an agreement with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Stenhouse pleaded guilty Tuesday to an amended charge of second-degree criminal abuse.

  • Water District No. 2 to formalize agreement with Louisville Water

    Hardin County Water District No. 2 will formalize its newfound water source with Louisville Water Co. next week.

    The two agencies will celebrate the formal partnership through a public signing 2 p.m. Tuesday at the district’s water tank at 2541 Springfield Road in Elizabethtown.

  • E'town woman charged with cruelty to animals

    An Elizabethtown woman faces a misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals after police say she caused her 6-month-old dog to fall 5 feet and break its leg.

    Angie L. Bohannon, 36, was arrested Friday night on a charge of second-degree cruelty to animals.

    According to an arrest warrant, Bohannon was involved in a domestic argument in the 600 block of McCullum Avenue when she jerked the dog’s leash as she was leaving.

  • Larry Smith remembered for tough but lovable nature

    Lawrence “Larry” Smith never was one to show his age and fought attempts from friends and associates who tried to unearth the truth.

    Chris Gohman, a Radcliff attorney, joked with Smith about his age years ago because he frequently would see 5K results in which Smith topped his age group, listed among runners older than 40. When pressed by Gohman, Smith would flatly deny it and claim it was a misprint.

    “He would never let anyone know his age,” he said with a laugh.

  • Police: Father arrested after girl, 3, found walking alone

    For the second time in 13 months, a Vine Grove man has been arrested after his 3-year-old daughter was found walking alone on her way to a school playground.

    Gabriel A. Smith, 29, was arrested Friday night on a charge of second-degree criminal abuse.

    According to the citation, a witness saw Smith’s 3-year-old daughter walking unattended around 5:30 p.m. east on Alton Street on her way to the nearby playground at Vine Grove Elementary School.

  • Scout troop recognized for conservation efforts

    A local Boy Scout troop was commended Monday for its work to conserve sand dunes in Gulf Shores, Ala.

    Troop 369, based at Locust Grove Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, was honored by Mayor Tim Walker and Elizabethtown City Council for assisting the Alabama Fish and Wildlife Service plant grasses on dunes situated near condominiums last month. The goal of the project was to conserve the habitat of the Alabama beach mouse, a federally endangered species that lives inside the dunes.

  • E'town man arrested in connection to burglary

    An Elizabethtown man was arrested Sunday morning in connection to a burglary five months ago at a Radcliff home.

    Robert Lee Flores III, 25, is charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree assault.

    According to an arrest warrant, someone entered a private residence at 6:19 p.m. Dec. 16 in the 1700 block of South Wilson Road in Radcliff. Police said the burglar entered through a rear door by “apparently breaking the door glass” and reaching through to unlock it.

  • Fort Knox to relaunch Adopt a Platoon

    John Campbell received a lot of mail during his deployments, but he never hoarded the contents. He often would pick out a soldier having a bad day or otherwise down on his luck and share the messages from home.

    Campbell, a community relations officer at Fort Knox, said personal touches from America can brighten a soldier’s day if they are wrestling with emotions or struggling with loneliness.
