  • Couple sentenced in child abuse case

    A mother and her boyfriend accused of abusing her mentally disabled child were sentenced Tuesday in Hardin Circuit Court.

    Heather M. Shipley, 36, received a five-year probated sentence and Justin F. Badgett, 27, was sentenced to an alternate six-month sentence and will have the remainder probated for five years.

  • KU customers may see rate increase

    Hardin and LaRue County Kentucky Util­ities customers may experience an electricity rate increase as early as July if the Kentucky Public Service Commission grants the energy company’s request.

    An LG&E KU spokesman said the company is seeking a revenue increase of $153 million from the commission in an application filing today.

    Two Hardin County residents were arrested Monday night after police went to an Elizabethtown motel room and found methamphetamine and marijuana.

    Jeremy S. Thompson, 37, of the 600 block of Red Hill Road in Vine Grove and Leslie M. Edwards, 34, of the 100 block of Wallace Court in Elizabethtown, were arrested on the first floor of the Country Suites Inn.
