Vine Grove Fire Department’s junior firefighter program meets tonight at 7 at the 513 Highland Ave. station. The program trains youths on the ins and outs of work as a firefighter.
Teens ages 14-18 are invited.
Ken Lucey, chief adviser and department safety officer, said the VGFD junior firefighter program was established in 2005 and is comparable to a police cadet program similar to the one in Elizabethtown.
“Our primary goal is to give the kids something constructive to do,” said Lucey, a 35-year veteran of fire service.
