Organ music played as family, friends and colleagues gathered in a LaRue County courtroom to celebrate the life of Judge James Elliott “Jim” Bondurant.
Bondurant, who served as district judge for Hart and LaRue counties and later was the first senior judge appointed in Kentucky, died Thursday in Tennessee. He was 84.
“His only request was to hold service at the LaRue County Courthouse,” Jane Bondurant, Jim’s daughter, told the congregation. “This space was dear to him.”
