Dickens of a Christmas has been a holiday staple in Vine Grove for more than two decades. But Friday night was a first in the history of the event — the winter weather finally got the best of it.
Friday’s events, which included caroling and the opportunity to wear Victorian-period clothing, were canceled after the winter storm that blew in caused the roadways to be slick. Events Coordinator Donna Broadway said city officials were thinking of residents’ safety.
“They were afraid someone would get hurt,” she said.
