Harbor Freight Tools

The parking lot has been active at Harbor Freight's Elizabethtown location since it opened Thursday. The company is planning a special event at the store July 31.

One of America’s leading retailer of tools will celebrate its new Elizabethtown store on July 31. Harbor Freight Tools opened its 16th Kentucky location Thursday at 1502 N. Dixie Ave. next to Aldi.

The 15,000-square-foot store stocks a full selection of tools and accessories in categories including automotive, air and power tools, storage, outdoor power equipment, generators, welding supplies, shop equipment and hand tools.

Harbor Freight’s products come with a lifetime warranty.

“We’re excited to serve customers in the great city of Elizabethtown,” said Christina Sanders, store manager. “At Harbor Freight, we’re passionate about providing our customers with the tools they need to get the job done and always at an affordable price. We look forward to welcoming auto technicians, contractors, woodworkers, homeowners, hobbyists — anyone who needs affordable tools.”

Grand opening ceremonies begin at 8 p.m. July 31, company officials announced.

Harbor Freight customers can sign up to receive a monthly coupon book by mail with dozens of product and additional discounts. Customers also can sign up to receive additional discounts by email.

The store is open seven days a week. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

The family-owned firm started in 1977 in Southern California as a mail-order business and cut deals directly with manufacturers to lower its sale prices. The company opened its first store in 1980 and now has nearly 1,000 stores across the country with 20,000 employees.

Another of the company’s core values is giving back to the communities it serves. Its news release said Harbor Freight Tools supports nonprofit organizations serving public education, first responders and veterans. Harbor Freight Tools for Schools support the advancement of skilled trades education in America.
