Kentucky State Police said a public appeal for assistance quickly brought results within 24 hours.

Investigators issued a plea Wednesday for help finding a possible witness to a fatal hit-and-run collision in Breckinridge County near the McDaniels community. An 8-year-old boy was killed in front of his house while retrieving the mail Saturday.

Police were interested in speaking with the driver of a late model Dodge Durango with a Florida license plate that was seen on Ky. 259 around the time of the fatal collision. In a news release Thursday, KSP Post 4 said the driver was located and issued a thank to those who responded to the alert.

Bradley Mattingly, 35, of Leitchfield, is charged with reckless homicide and leaving the scene of an accident related to the fatality.
