LaRue fire 6-12-19

Police tape blocks the entrance to the smoldering remains of a house fire in a rural corner of LaRue County. Authorities say the body of an adult female was found inside.

Parts of a home involved in a deadly fire Wednesday remained smoldering Thursday afternoon as Kentucky State Police and the state fire marshal’s office continued their investigation.

The victim, an adult female, according to KSP Post 4 spokesman Scotty Sharp, has not been identified.

The body, which was discovered inside the LaRue County residence by firefighters, was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for an autopsy and positive identification.

Detectives from KSP Post 4 responded Wednesday to the residential house fire in LaRue County following a call from the state fire marshal requesting assistance.

The fire was at 618 Otter Creek Road in the Buffalo community. The origin of the fire and cause of death remain under investigation. The home sits about three-quarters of a mile of Ky. 210.

KSP was assisted at the scene by State Fire Marshall Deputy Mike Killebrew, Buffalo Fire Department and the LaRue County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is being handled by KSP Detectives Michael Cook and Steve Lowery.
