A crane in place began erecting steel beams Tuesday for new retail spaces at 69 Public Square in Elizabethtown. The property, which once was home to the J.J. Newberry five-and-dime store, was cleared in March 2018. Elizabethtown Renaissance Associates plan a building to match the period exteriors downtown and feature two ground-level locations for restaurants or retailers. The plans also call for second-floor residential lofts. The sidewalk and parking on that corner of the square is temporarily closed.
