The state Transportation Cabinet issued an advisory this afternoon about work which will disrupt traffic on U.S. 31W Bypass in Elizabethtown beginning tonight.

A microsurfacing preventive maintenance project begins tonight and will last five to seven days with work occurring overnight. Preparations have been made over the past couple weeks along the road.

Motorists should expect lane closures at the intersections of College Street, Ky. 1357 and U.S. 31W during the work hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work will progress along the entire corridor with lane closures at various locations until the project is complete, the statement issued by the District 4 highway office said.

Also, ramp closures are anticipated for Western Kentucky Parkway, U.S. 62 and Ky. 361 as part of this project. The release said additional advisories will be issued ahead of these closures.

Mobile message boards are being activated to help alert motorists.

Completion of the microsurfacing project is expected middle to later part of next week, depending on weather.
