Two people are in critical condition after a Tuesday afternoon two-vehicle crash on North Dixie Avenue, according to Elizabethtown police.

Elizabethtown Police Department officers responded at approximately 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to a collision in front of Lakeshore Plaza in Elizabethtown.

Police say a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado was southbound approaching a red light at the entrance to the plaza and a 2013 Chrysler 200 was stopped facing south at signal. The front of the Silverado struck the rear of the Chrysler causing damage, police said.

An adult male was the lone occupant of the Silverado and was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital. The Chrysler driver and passenger, both men, were airlifted to University Hospital with critical injuries.

EPD did not release names or hometowns of those involved in the collision. An investigation is ongoing.
