The national and state-wide debate about Confederate symbols and memorials has made its way to West Point, albeit likely by accident.

There, a road sign welcoming passersby to Civil War-era Fort Duffield and the surrounding park, once advertised the “Confederate Homestead Area.”

Today, it reads “Homestead Area.”
