  • Festivals held throughout Hardin County

    Upton Days, Howevalley Day, Western Hardin County Days and Vine Grove Autumn Daze festivals all took place this weekend. The festivals in Upton, Hardin Springs and Vine Grove were spread out over Friday and Saturday, and Howevalley Day was Saturday.

    When we received word that our daughter would not be attending our local elementary school for kindergarten, we were disappointed. Instead, it was determined that all kindergarten students in the north end of Hardin county would attend North Park Elementary School.

    LOUISVILLE — DeVante Parker and the Ballard Bruins had their way with injury-riddle Meade County on Friday night.

    A University of Louisville commit at wide receiver, Parker caught nine passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns to lead Ballard to a 45-10 rout of the Green Wave at Pat Crawford Stadium.

    Arthur H. Gregory III, 66, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010. The funeral is at noon today at Elizabethtown Christian Academy-Franklin Crossroads Baptist Church with burial in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation continues from 9 to noon today at the church. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

  • Man dies in motorcycle wreck

    RADCLIFF — A Radcliff man died in a motorcycle accident Saturday.

    Keith L. Ferrell, 46, was traveling on Ky. 86 when a deer crossed the path of his motorcycle, according to Kentucky State Police dispatch.

    A KSP trooper came upon the crash, which occurred around 1 a.m. Ferrell was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Ferrell wasn’t wearing a helmet.

  • GIRLS' PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Chandler wins Central Hardin Invitational (09/19)

    Spurred by the opportunity of getting a new pair of running spikes, Abbie Chandler ran away to a big victory Saturday afternoon in the Central Hardin Invitational at Freeman Lake Park.

    The Central Hardin freshman won the 48-runner race in 20 minutes, 35.66 seconds.

  • Some spend a night in Cardboard Nation

    More than a hundred participants gathered Friday to experience for a night what is a way of life for some.

    Warm Blessings Soup Kitchen hosted the third annual Cardboard Nation overnight Friday. More than 130 participants came to the campus of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College to spend the night outside with nothing more than boxes and blankets. The event is meant to simulate a homeless experience.

  • PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP: Lady Panthers stun No. 5 Covington Notre Dame (09/19)

    Junior defender Hannah Kuhn had a goal and an assist and sophomore midfielder Lexy Hazle had two assists to lead the Elizabethtown Lady Panthers to an upset of No. 5 Covington Notre Dame, 4-0 on Saturday in the Lexington Catholic Lady Knights Cup.

    Sophomore midfielder Madison Conway, sophomore striker Emily Richardson and junior striker Tara Gilpin each scored for No. 12 Elizabethtown (9-4-2), which went 2-1 in the tournament.

    Senior keeper Jasmine Brissett and junior Audrey Duke combined to make three saves for the shutout.
