  • I-65 northbound lanes cleared after wreck

    A multi-vehicle crash blocked northbound lanes of Interstate 65 near mile point 81 near the Sonora exit today for more than three hours.

    Three commercial vehicles and a car were involved in the collision. A wrecker was clearing away the final vehicle around 4:30 p.m., according to the state Transportation Cabinet.

  • Local church installs city's largest solar array

    An Elizabethtown church Tuesday began installing 165 solar panels, the city’s largest array.

    Memorial United Methodist Church on North Miles Street has installed most of the 310-watt solar panels.

  • Crutcher’s to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary.

    Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Crutcher of Rineyville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary April 24, 2015.
    Mrs. Crutcher is the former Sandra Stith and is a retired RN from Lincoln Village Youth Development Center in Elizabethtown.
    Mr. Crutcher retired from Fort Knox civil service after 33 years of service.
    The couple have four children and seven grandchildren.

    Anni C. Fields will celebrate her 90th birthday on April 28, 2015.
    She had resided in Cecilia since 1968 before moving to Kensington Center in Elizabethtown. She was married to the late Clarence A. Fields.
    She attended St. Ambrose and St. James Catholic churches and is a member of the German Club in Radcliff.

  • Pipers welcome daughter Kinze Mae.

    Bo and Brandi Piper of Sonora announce the birth of a daughter, Kinze Mae Piper, on Jan. 22, 2015, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Pat and Donetta Eastridge of Sonora. Paternal grandparents are George and Kathy Piper of Sonora.
    Great-grandmother is Virginia Pence.

  • Perkins’ welcome daughter Kaylyn Jean Perkins.

    Felicia And Josh Perkins of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a daughter, Kaylyn Jean, on April 7, 2015, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She weighed  7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 21 inches long.
    She has a brother, Douglas Prince, and a sister, Madeleine Perkins.

    Pete and Ethel Nolan of Elizabethtown will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary April 26, 2015, with their family.
    They were married in 1955 at Valley Creek Baptist Church.

  • Former teacher begins serving sentence

    Former Hardin County Schools Spanish teacher Edwin Bonet began his 10-year sentence today for sexually abusing four students over the course of a decade.

    Bonet was taken into custody following formal sentencing in Hardin Circuit Court where three of his victims and one family member spoke during the proceeding.
