    Randy and Kimberly Stillwell of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a daughter, Mackenzie Kaye Stillwell, on Sept. 9, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are Donnie and Debbie Dunn of Elizabethtown and Julie Stillwell of Eastview.

    Great-grandparents are Donald and Leona Morgan of Elizabethtown, Walter and Janet Stillwell of Eastview and Joe and Agnis Kipper of Big Clifty.

    Ashley Adine Nguyen and Alan Richard Scott were married Aug. 15, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Rachel Scott Marshall officiating and invocation read by the Rev. Skip Dunford.

    The bride is the daughter of Christine Tran of Lexington.

    The groom is the son of Jess and Frances Scott of Elizabethtown.

    A reception was held at the church.

    Musical selections were played by Alice Mull, organist, and Peter McHugh, violinist. 

    The couple reside in Lexington.

  • Parents Welcome Cole Alexander

    Samantha and Jason Vertrees of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a son, Cole Alexander Vertrees on Oct. 26, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Phyllis Brown and Allen Pence, both of Elizabethtown; and paternal grandparents Marlene Vertrees of Elizabethtown and the late Dale Vertrees.

    Great-grandparents are Virginia Reynolds, Christine Vertrees and Nora Higdon and the late Oris and Merl Reynolds, the late Charlie Pence, the late Wilbur Vertrees and the late Louis Higdon.

  • Sister welcomes Faith Allison

    Grace Aubrey Knight announces the birth of a sister, Faith Allison Knight on Sept. 1, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Parents are Kyle and Valorie Knight of Cecilia.

    Grandparents are Wayne and Theda Watkins of Elizabethtown, Regina and Jack Laessle of Rineyville, and Darryl and Dee Knight of Newton Falls, Ohio.

  • Rineyville Homemakers donate to resource center

    Rineyville Homemakers recently donated $500 to the Rineyville Family Resource Center to help those in need during the holidays. President Renie Phillips presented the gift to Jennifer Baker, director of the program. Those present were Principal Billy Coffey, Martha Thomas, Paula Greenwell, Jennifer Baker, Martha Wiseman, Barbara Taylor, Ann Taylor, Winona Skees, Renie Phillips, Rose Yates and Judith Cartwright.

  • Fields celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

    Larry E. “Sonny” and Dorothy Fields of Clarkson will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 30, 2010.

    They were married Dec. 30, 1950, in Bonnieville by Brother J.M. Priddy.

    They have three sons, Larry Roger Fields and Timothy Allen Fields, both of Clarkson, and Eric Duncan Fields of Upton; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

  • Bailey-Smith graduates from basic training


    BAILEY-SMITH. Air Force Airman Christopher Bailey-Smith graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2010 graduate of North Hardin High School in Radcliff, he is the son of Lashonda Smith of Radcliff and the grandson of Josephine Wiggins of Brooklyn, N.Y.
