  • Parents announce birth of McKenna

     

    Dana and Chuck Sims announce the birth of a daughter, McKenna Ann, on July 23, 2009, at Norton-Suburban Hospital. She weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20½ inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Mike and Terri McKenna and the late Patricia McKenna. Paternal grandparents are Roma and Patty Sims.

     

  • Hikers gather at Billy Creek Trail

    More than 40 people hiked the 2-mile Billy Creek Trail with Greenspace leaders Nov. 8. The Official leader was David Lutz of Lexington, but unofficial help was given by Bob Wade and Doug Gebler, who have led other hikes for Greenspace. Also accompanying the group were Mary and Ed Sprague, founders of the Greenspace organization and initiators of the development of 18-plus miles of recreational use outdoor trails around the riparian areas of Elizabethtown’s waterways.

  • Red Cross offers classes for December

    The American Red Cross will offer the following classes in December. IACET CEUs are available for Red Cross training. Active duty military discounts now are available, but must be requested at time of payment. Classes are held at the Red Cross office at 405 W. Dixie Ave., in Elizabethtown unless indicated. The American Red Cross offices at 405 W. Dixie Avenue, Elizabethtown and at 1131 Fifth Avenue, Fort Knox, will be closed Dec. 24 and 25. To register for classes, call 765-4979.

    Adult CPR/AED/First Aid and bloodborne pathogens, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 4; $55.

  • Hardestys celebrate 25th wedding anniversary

     

     

    Joseph “Tiny” and Barbara Hardesty of Elizabethtown will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m., Nov. 15, 2009, at Lincoln Trail Baptist Church.

    The couple was married Nov. 23, 1984, at Youngers Creek Baptist Church by Brother Ty Clenny.

    Mr. Hardesty has worked at Masters Supply for 25 years and is a member of Lincoln Trail Baptist Church.

    Mrs. Hardesty has worked at Publisher’s Printing for 10 years and is also a member of Lincoln Trail Baptist Church.

    KARSEN BECK HUBLEY

    Kristen Duff and Morgan Hubley announce the birth of a daughter, Karsen Beck Hubley, on Oct. 10, 2009, at Methodist Hospital in Raleigh, N.C. She weighed 6 pounds and was 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are Randy and Linda Hubley of Raleigh, N.C., and Danny and Joann Duff of New Bern, N.C.

    Great grandparents are Isaac and Monica Duff, and Ruth Lindsey of Elizabethtown.
