  • Defense claim prosecutors withheld discovery on Burke case



    Testimony in the state’s double-murder case against former Army Sgt. Brent Burke resumed this morning with Hardin County  Deputy Coroner John Clemens describing the Rineyville subdivision crime scene he responded to on Sept. 11, 2007, and the reports and photos he filed as part of his investigation.

    Within minutes of Clemens taking the stand, his testimony came to a halt, due to an issue with discovery.

  • Forums tonight on future of education



    Elizabethtown will be one of nine locations across the state for simultaneous forums tonight to help a task force come up with education priorities for the next General Assembly.

    The TEK Talk meetings — part of the Transforming Education in Kentucky initiative — will include local discussions and a televised panel with Gov. Steve Beshear and his wife, Education Commissioner Terry Holliday and Council on Postsecondary Education President Bob King.

  • Lightning does damage to home on Helm Street

A lightning bolt struck a Helm Street home around 1 a.m. Monday, causing severe structural damage to the property, said Elizabethtown Fire Battalion Chief Mark Malone.
