  • Vine Grove Chapter 122 Order of Eastern Star installs new officers

    On Sept. 13, friends and family gathered at Vine Grove OES Chapter No. 122 to welcome in a new year with a new corps of officers. The evening included, food, fellowship and a skit and songs honoring outgoing Worthy Matron Gladys Ryan and Worthy Patron Roy Calloway.

  • Parents welcome Bryce Anthony

     

    Anthony and Leah Abang of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a son, Bryce Anthony Abang on Aug. 25, 2009. He weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Sibling is Greer Adison Abang.

    Grandparents are Don and Aline Greer of Fairfield and Raul and Aurora Abang of Louisville.

     

  • Brownie Scout Troop helps the hungry

     

    Brownie Scout Troop 1018 donated 10 cases of Girl Scout cookies to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry on Sept. 23. The third-grade Brownie troop from St. James includes a couple of Junior Girl Scouts. Father Hopper accepted the food donations, standing in for an official from the food pantry. Margaret Dugan, leader of the Brownie troop, was told that a lot of food gets donated to the food pantry, but rarely do they get pastries such as cookies.

  • Woman's Club of Elizabethtown members serve the community

    The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown contributed to the work at Wesley Hilltop House recently. Diane Willis, president, presented a check to Director Arnel Megino as children were studying at the facility. Megino also was tutoring a student that day as an afternoon snack was being served.

    Eric Michael Hall and Jennifer Leigh Jacobs, both of Louisville, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Cathy Hipsher of Louisville and Michael Jacobs of Dallas. She is a 1999 graduate of Ballard High School in Louisville and a 2004 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in marketing. She is in sales at Certicell.

  • Parents welcome Ezekiel Gavin

     

    Chad and Deana Culler of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a son, Ezekiel Gavin Culler, on May 19, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19 ¾ inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Michelle Parrish and Dean and Beverly Parrish, all of Nelsonville. Paternal grandparents are Russ and Wanda Culler of Boston, Ky.

    Great-grandparents are Tony and Laverne Embry of Boston, Ky., and Donald and Dorothy Parrish of Nelsonville.
