  • Overall graduates from basic training

    Air Force Airman Charles L. Overall graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2008 graduate of John Hardin High School, he is the son of David and Cindy Overall of Elizabethtown.

     

  • Lending a hand

    Young Professionals of Hardin County volunteered on Oct. 20 at Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland Food Bank, to stuff backpacks for area children in need.

     

  • CHHS students visit Elizabethtown Rotary Club

    Student guests of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club on Oct. 27 were Megan Leffler and Cody Deeley of Central Hardin High School.

     

  • Annual Hardin County Veterans Day Parade is Saturday in Vine Grove

    The City of Vine Grove, along with VFW Post 10281, will host this year’s Hardin County Veterans’ Day parade and ceremony on Nov. 7 in Vine Grove. The sponsors will provide a free lunch of hot dogs and baked beans, and the North Hardin Lions Club will provide free ice cream. Cuque Janitorial Services will give away free flags.

  • Brammer named Central Kentucky Art Guild Artist of the Month

     

      Charlotte Brammer was named Artist of the Month at the Oct. 19 meeting of the Central Kentucky Art Guild. Her painting entitled “Apples and Pumpkin” was selected by those attending the meeting. It will be hung at Cobbler’s Café, 125 E. Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown, just off Public Square.

  • DAV hosts wounded soldiers at annual end-of-summer picnic

     

    Disabled American Veterans Chapter 003 Elizabethtown hosted a group of active duty soldiers temporarily stationed at Fort Knox while they recuperate from wounds while serving in Iraq and Afganistan at the annual chapter end-of-summer picnic.

    Commander Gary Rice told the members and guests at the picnic that Chapter 003 was honored to be in the company of these brave soldiers who have so gallently served their nation in combat.
