    Angela Kay Brown and John Andrew “Andy” McGirk of Bardstown announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Brenda and Dennis Brown of Bardstown and Ronald and Marlena Brown of Elizabethtown.

    The prospective groom is the son of Mary Catherine McGirk and John and Carol McGirk, all of Bardstown.

    The wedding is at 7 p.m., May 15, 2010, at Bluegrass Entertainment and Expo Center, formerly known as Hillbilly Heaven, in Bardstown.

    All friends and relatives are invited.

     

  • Heartland Coalition of Military Veterans meets

    The April meeting of the Heartland Coalition of Military Veterans was held at American Legion Post 113 in Elizabethtown on April 10. State Senator Elizabeth Tori addressed the membership and updated them on veteran related legislation. Chairman Clint Meshew introduced Master Sgt. Tina Winchester, who works at Fort Knox at the Soldier Family Assistance Center and also works with the Wounded Warriors Program.

  • Dancers perform at Hosparus Tea

    The Allegro Dance Theatre Musical Theatre Ensemble recently performed selections from Disney’s High School Musical for the Hosparus Tea. The group will hold its annual Musical Theatre Summer Camp from June 7-10. The campers will learn and perform selections from Seussical, the Musical. For information, call 352-1333.

    Billy and Paula Cottrell will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary from 4 to 6 p.m. EST May 16, 2010, at Summersville Baptist Church.

    They were married May 18, 1985, at Oak Hill Baptist Church.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

    Pamela K. Adams of Elizabethtown and Gregory A. Reesor of Glendale were married March 30, 2010.

    The bride is the daughter of Emmett R. Adams of Elizabethtown and the late Edna M. Adams.

    The groom is the son of Pauline E. Reesor of Elizabethtown and the late Paul K. Reesor.

    After a wedding trip to West Palm Beach, Fla., the couple reside in Glendale.

    O.V. and Dinah Sparks of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Erin Nicole Sparks, to Eric Evans, son of Dwain and Leann Evans of Madisonville.

    The bride-to-be is a 2001 graduate of Elizabethtown High School, a 2006 graduate of Louisville Tech with a computer graphic design degree, and she will graduate in June from Sullivan University with a bachelor’s degree in information technology with an emphasis in software engineering.

    Mary L. Grimes Mary L. Grimes, 86, of Star Mills, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She was a native of Hardin County and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Huel Roscoe and Molly Jane Hatfield Grimes; five brothers, Arvil Grimes, W.A. Grimes, R.M. Grimes, Kenneth Grimes and Paul Grimes; and one sister, Be
