  • A LUAU AT THE ALLEGRO

    The Allegro at Helmwood was host to a Hawaiian Patio Party on Aug. 22. The residents, their families and guests enjoyed a Hawaiian themed luau with live music and food prepared by the dining services staff. The event was held outdoors with music of artists Lionel Richie and Bette Midler.

  • Tess Wardell receives promotion to Lt. Col. while in Iraq

    Tess Weaver Wardell, daughter of Mike and Lois Weaver, was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in Bagdad, Iraq on Sept. 1, 2008. Lt. Col. Wardell is assigned to Multinational Forces Iraq where she has served as an intelligence officer since January 2008.

    She is a graduate of North Hardin High School and Vanderbilt University.

    She is the daughter of Mike and Lois Weaver and the mother of Liz.

     

  • Ramstein and Roe complete Eagle Scout projects

    Jonathan Ramstein, left, and Joshua Roe of Troop 150 recently completed their Eagle Scout Projects at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff. Both had to plan, coordinate and execute a 40 man-hour community project to earn the award. They removed old trees and planted new ones around the memorial walkway.

     

  • Girl Scout Junior Troop 479 does service project

    Creekside Elementary Family Resources and Girl Scouts Junior Troop 479 worked together this year to get cookies to families that may not have had the funds to buy the treats themselves. Junior troop 479 worked hard in the Girl Scout Cookie program February through March 2008.

    Councilperson Marty Fulkerson officiates as the Whistle Stop’s Caboose cuts the ribbon and is open for business in the Cool Springs Shopping Center on July 12. Chamber Ambassadors, family, friends, employees and other well wishers were on hand.

      Zach and Lindsey Miller of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a son, Cole Thomas Miller, on June 23, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 15½ ounces and was 20 inches long. Grandparents are Larry and Becky Thomas of Elizabethtown and Jim and Lisa Miller of Guston. Great-grandparents are Martha Thomas of Elizabethtown and Richard and Clarine Miller of Brandenburg.

  • Extension Office holds sewing camps

    Two camps were held for 10-14 year-olds at the Hardin County Cooperative Extension Office during July, beginning and advanced, and both groups made a quilt. Each camper made one or more blocks. The blocks were then assembled into quilt tops and donated to the Stitchers Quilt Guild. The tops will be quilted and included in the guild’s December 2008 donation to the Warrior Transition Unit at Fort Knox. Both completed quilts will be featured in the “Patriotic Quilts” display at the 2008 Heart of Kentucky Quilt Show, Sept.

      Allison Marie Brown and Ronald Lee Miller Jr., both of Vine Grove, were married Aug. 2, 2008, at Radcliff Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter of Mary Clark and Michael Hancock of Vine Grove. The groom is the son of Retta Ruth Miller and Ronald Lee Miller Sr., of Vine Grove. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Michael Hancock. Maid of honor was Jody Clark; a
