  • Garden Club Attracting Expert Speakers

    Continuing the policy of featuring excellent and informative speakers, the Garden Club of Elizabethtown enjoyed speaker Blanche Peerce, owner of Peerce Farm and Green Houses in Glendale, who spoke at the May club meeting held at the Brown-Pusey House.

    It may have been fate — it sure wasn’t luck — that led Oklahoma fugitive Michael St. Clair to Bullitt and Hardin counties during a 1991 cross-country crime spree.

    The spree culminated, police and prosecutors say, when St. Clair and his partner, Dennis Reese, kidnapped and killed Francis “Frank” Brady, 55, of Bardstown.

    Reese pleaded guilty in 1994 and later testified against St. Clair.

    The April meeting of the Radcliff Woman’s Club featured a lecture presented by guest speaker, Roger Boyd, director of public affairs for AAA who was introduced to us by club member Janice Demaree. He offered information regarding gas prices in today’s market, traveler services, types of membership, child car seat safety as well as other valuable tips.

  • EHS Class of ‘80 Reunion announced

    The Elizabethtown High School Class of 1980 announces a 30 year reunion celebration. Classmates are invited to gather Sept. 4 at the recently remodeled Howard Johnson (1058 N. Mulberry) in Elizabethtown. We’ll celebrate in the evening with a buffet dinner, sharing memories, dancing and fun. Additional optional activities will be added as people register.

    Corey Lucas and Anna Medley were married on March 13, 2010, at Open Valley United Baptist Church by Pastor Jeff Doyle.

    After a wedding trip to Cozumel, Mexico, the couple reside in Rineyville.

    Through the generous support of the community, Girl Scout Troop No. 1037 of Elizabethtown received enough in donations to be able to donate 36 cases, or 432 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to SpringHaven Domestic Violence shelter.
