  • Colesburg cleanup: Deja vu all over again

    There’s one basin in Hardin County that’s due for a good wash.

    For the lowlands along the Rolling Fork basin, that cleanup is coming — one way or another.

    Several inches of rain May 1 and 2 caused Kentucky and Tennessee streams to burst from their banks and flood developed areas, agricultural fields, towns and anything else in the way. The receding water left a brown scum of dried sediment.

    Ashley Nicole Rust and Matthew Dale Riggs, both of Elizabethtown, were married on March 27, 2010, by Gary King at Howard Johnson Hotel in Elizabethtown.

    The bride is the daughter of Jay and Donna Rust of Elizabethtown.

    The groom is the son of Dale Riggs of Vine Grove and Darlene and Ed Kraemer of West Virginia.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father, Jay Rust.

  • Vine Grove biker injured in crash

    MEADE COUNTY — A Vine Grove motorcyclist was flown to a Louisville hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries Saturday after his bike collided with a pickup truck at a Meade County intersection.

    According to Kentucky State Police, Michael Clement, of Vine Grove, was riding a Harley-Davidson southbound on Ky. 1816 shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday morning when he slammed into a truck.

  • County attorney primary race likely decisive

    May 18 is the day local Democrats will choose who will advise county government and steer Hardin County’s ship of justice through the next four years.

    Unless an independent candidate files, the November general election will be a formality in the county attorney’s race. Jenny Pitts and Larry Ashlock are the only candidates and both are running as Democrats.
