ELIZABETHTOWN — “It started out just as a thumb twitch,” Don Coppersmith, 58, recalls.

At that time — 23 years ago — Don worked at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and was at work when the twitching began. He called his wife, Pam, and told her he couldn’t get the twitching to stop.

She told him he should see a doctor.

FORT KNOX — A local woman received one of 10 national scholarships handed out by two organizations wanting to show their gratitude to members of the military and their families.

Lisa Carrasco of Fort Knox was awarded a $3,000 scholarship from the Jenzabar Foundation and ThanksUSA. Carrasco is working toward a degree in elementary education at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and will continue next semester at Western Kentucky University.

HARDIN COUNTY — Despite the recent dry spell, Hardin County is above its average precipitation rate for the year thanks to an abnormally wet spring. The recent rain, however, probably still was a welcome sight for many Hardin Countians who wished some of the spring rain could have been saved for autumn.

Hardin County received 1.36 inches over a day’s time as of late Wednesday morning, according to Mark Adams, site manager for the National Weather Service station at Fort Knox.
