  • Adult Activity Group holds August meeting

    Door prize winners for the August meeting were Liza Williams, Anna Bowman and Waleska Westerman.

    The Adult Activity group meets from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the third Wednesday of every month. New members are always welcome. They group shares a potluck meal and plays pinochle, rook and other games. Door prizes are donated by Josette Roush. Bring a dish and join the fun.


  • Riggses celebrate 50th wedding anniversary


    Hubert and Janice Fields Riggs will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at 3 p.m. CDT, Sept. 5, 2010, at their home, 2461 Grindstone Road, Clarkson.

    They were married Sept. 3, 1960.

    They have four children, Jackie Williams, Kimberly Logsdon, Paul Riggs and Jonathan Riggs; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend.


  • Routon celebrates 90th birthday


    Alene Meyers Routon celebrated her 90th birthday on Sept. 11, 2010, at Colesburg Baptist Fellowship Hall in Colesburg. Her celebration will continue on Sept. 28, 2010, when she and her seven daughters will embark on a cruise to the Bahamas.

    She was born Sept. 14, 1920.

    She was married to the late Harry Franklin Routon Jr.

    Stephanie Riggs and Jason Noe, both of Glendale, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dennis and Denise Miracle of Elizabethtown. She is a sales representative at The News-Enterprise.

    The prospective groom is the son of Galen and Sandy Noe of Cecilia and Billy and Jane Harper of Stephensburg. He is operations manager at Blue Beacon in Glendale.

    The wedding is at 6 p.m., Sept. 18, 2010, in Elizabethtown with a reception to follow.

  • Hardin County GOP Opens 2010 Campaign Headquarters

    On Sept. 11, a large group of local GOP supporters, candidates, and elected officials were on hand to participate in the grand opening of the Hardin County Republican Headquarters at 1701 N. Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown, at the entrance of the Starlite Shopping Center.

    Morghan Elizabeth Lanham and Matthew Jon Alway were married Aug. 6, 2010, at Camp Carlson, Fort Knox, with the Rev. Eugene Demmons officiating over the outside ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Tom and Becky Lanham of Lebanon Junction and the granddaughter of Jerry and Sandy Greenwell of Vine Grove and Edna Lanham of Lebanon Junction.

    The groom is the son of John and Laurie Dinnell of Vine Grove and Bruce Alway of Santa Monica, Calif., and the grandson of the Rev. Eugene and Joan Demmons of Gouldsboro, Maine.

    Elizabeth Ann Allen

    Elizabeth Ann Allen, 87, of Vine Grove, passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.

    Mrs. Allen was active in her community having served as president of the Vine Grove PTA, president of Vine Grove Woman’s Club, president of Hardin County Women’s Republicans Club, Precinct captain, delegate to the Republican National Convention and Governors appointee to the 9th Judicial Circuit and District of Kentucky. She also was past co-owner of the Miss. and Mrs. Shop in Radcliff.
