  • Jackson graduates from Airborne School

     

    JACKSON. Spc. Antonio M. Jackson graduated from airborne school on Jan. 21 at Fort Benning, Ga, and from the Advance Leadership Course in March at Fort Bragg, N.C. The son of Larry Jackson Sr. and Evangelist Aundra Lett-Jackson of Radcliff, he deployed to Afghanistan on April 19.

     

  • Democratic Women’s club meets

    The Hardin County Democratic Women’s Club met Sept. 14 at Freeman Lake Park.

    First Vice President Angie Ashlock presided in the absence of President Diane Nall, and Karen McCord blessed the meal. Sandy Hawkins gave the devotional.

    25th District Rep. Jimmie Lee introduced the guest speaker, Joe Prather, who served as secretary of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet from December 2007 to Sept. 30. Prather spoke at length about his service and said he looks forward to returning to spending more time with family as he nears 70.

  • Bentley-Nall

    Kirby and Pamela Bentley of Cecilia announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kathryn Camille Bentley, to Donald Earl Nall, son of Dennis and Mari Nall of Cecilia.

    The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Albert and Camille Rosati and the late John and Nora Bentley. She is a 1999 graduate of Central Hardin High School and a 2005 graduate of the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication. She is a community news team associate at The News-Enterprise.

  • Elizabethtown Rotary Club EHS Students of the Month named

    Elizabethtown High School seniors Katie Meek and Sam Sherrard attended the noon meeting of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club as Students of the Month. Katie Meek is a member of the BETA Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Journalism Club and is co-captain of the EHS volleyball team. After graduating she plans to attend a four-year college and major in biology, eventually attending dental school. She hopes to some day return to Elizabethtown to practice dentistry. Sam Sherrard already owns his own business and spends his extra time doing community service activities.

    Ian Martin Essex and Bobbi Alecia Ball would like to announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Danny and Sherry Ball of Elizabethtown.

    The prospective groom is the son of Kenneth and Victoria Essex of Elizabethtown.

    The wedding is May 22, 2010 at College Heights United Methodist Church.

  • Parents welcome Joshua Dylan Weaver

     

    Nathan and Stephanie Weaver of Marietta, Ga., announce the birth of a son, Joshua Dylan Weaver, on Aug. 7, 2009. He weighed 4 pounds, 3 ounces and was 16 ½ inches long.

    Grandparents are Steve and Dianne Atcher of Elizabethtown and Raymond Weaver of Marietta.

    Great-grandparents are Isaac and Monica Duff of Elizabethtown, Kathryn Atcher Bewley of Louisville and Stan and Dorothy Carras of Bay Village, Ohio.

     

  • Randall to attend advanced electronics school

     

      RANDALL. Jason I. Randall of Radcliff entered active duty in the U.S. Navy in June 2009. He is stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base and has been selected to attend the Advanced Electronics School. Randall formerly worked at the Best Buy store in Elizabethtown. He is the son of Lisa and Bert Randall and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Don Shaw of Radcliff.

  • Milburn-Milby

    Randall and Reba Milburn of Vine Grove and Otto and Suzanne Milby of Buffalo announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Kathy Jo Milburn and Joseph Dale Milby.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College with an associate of science degree. She is a manager at McDonald’s.

    The prospective groom is a graduate of LaRue County High School. He is a truck driver.

    The wedding is at noon Sept. 19, 2009, at Friendship Baptist Church in Hodgenville, followed by a reception.

  • Club participates in Heartland Festival parade

    The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown participated in the Kentucky Heartland Festival by having an entry in the parade. In keeping with the theme, “Heartland Shines in 2009,” Casey Goodson, the club’s 2009 scholarship recipient, rode in the vehicle provided. Casey graduated from Central Hardin High School in May and attends Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. The Junior Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown also participated by walking beside the vehicle.
