    Streets were lined Friday morning with residents paying their respects and flags waving under a hot September sun.

    Many tears were wiped away.

    As the body of one of our own, 1st. Lt. Eric David Yates, passed through streets, we remembered the sacrifice of that 26-year-old man.

  • Duffee mobilized and ready for deployment

    DUFFEE. Army Reserve Capt. Charles J. Duffee has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom. The soldier is a member of the 412th Civil Affairs Battalion, Columbus, Ohio.

    Duffee is a civil affairs officer with eight years of military service.

    He is the son of Charles W. Duffee of Georgetown and Natalie J. Duffee of Radcliff.

    The captain graduated in 1998 from North Hardin High School in Radcliff.

    George and Sheryl Sadler of Sonora announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Ashley Marie Sadler, to Jarred Addyson Gardner, son of Terry and Jennifer Gardner of Sonora.

    The bride-to-be is a 2005 graduate of Central Hardin High School and is pursuing a degree in social work from Western Kentucky University. She is employed by ADIO pharmacy in Elizabethtown.

  • Garden Club beautifies The Allegro

    On Sept. 17, several members of The Garden Club of Elizabethtown helped residents of Allegro Assisted Living in Elizabethtown plant colorful seasonal flowers in containers for the residents to enjoy. The activity was coordinated by Dee Johnson, Allegro’s activities director. Afterward, lunch was provided and shared by all.
