    As rain fell Wednesday, soldiers of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division passed through serving lines for a midday meal filling their plates with a traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey and dressing plus trimmings.

  • E'town man killed in LaRue wreck

    An Elizabethtown man died Monday as a result of injuries suffered in what one law enforcement officer describes as a “devastating wreck.”
    Kevin House, 37, was a passenger in a pickup truck that collided head-on with a large fertilizer truck. He died at University Hospital in Louisville.
    The crash occurred about 2:20 p.m. in the 3000 block of Tanner Road. A pickup driven by Brian Smith apparently tried to pass a box truck and struck a Southern States fertilizer truck head-on.

I can hardly believe that Thanksgiving is only a couple of days away. But by the time you read this, we will have been eating left over food from our Thanksgiving feast.

    The 2011 New Opportunity School for Women, Inc. is accepting applications for its winter residential session, Feb. 6-26. The deadline to apply is today.
    NOSW was founded in 1987 by Jane B. Stephenson to assist women of Appalachia and Kentucky in the pursuit of employment, education, and personal growth. The NOSW accepts women over 30 who have completed high school, have a GED (or actively working on a GED) and do not have a college degree.
