Wilbur and Christine Vertrees of Elizabethtown are celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary today, Aug. 22, 2008. They were married Aug. 22, 1940, in Buffalo by the Rev. J.S. Vanada. They have two sons, Larry Vertrees of Elizabethtown and the late Dale Vertrees; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren, of which one is deceased.

Margaret Jenkins recently did a presentation on Stonewall Jackson “The Black Man’s Friend” at the September meeting of Ancestral Trails Historical Society. Jenkins was formerly of Lexington, Va., where Stonewall Jackson was also from. The next meeting of the Ancestral Trails will be Oct. 3 when Dana Brown will present a program on “Writing a Novel Based on Fami

  The week of July 21-25, The Dance Centre of Elizabethtown hosted its annual summer dance intensive for intermediate-advanced students. In addition to Dance Centre faculty member Amber Steff, several guest teachers shared their talents with the dancers.
