  • Governor Beshear appoints two local residents to posts

    Gov. Steve Beshear has reappointed Danny L. Percell to the State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors to serve for a term expiring June 9, 2012.   • Allegro hosts grandparents day brunch

    The Allegro Assisted living and Memory Care community hosted a Grandparent’s Day Brunch for the residents and their families on Sept. 7. The residents enjoyed their children and grandchildren and had a wonderful time making memories together while celebrating Grandparent’s Day.   • Ellis graduates Navy basic training

    ELLIS. Navy Seaman Apprentice Brian A. Ellis, son of Denise A. and Mark A. Ellis of Flaherty, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Ellis is a 2008 graduate of Jefferson High School of Louisville.  

  • Garden Club receives certificate of appreciation

    1 Twylane Van Lahr, Executive Director of the Brown-Pusey House presents a Certificate of Appreciation for the many services that The Garden Club of Elizabethtown has performed for the Brown-Pusey House to Club President Joyce Effinger.

    2 Karen Angelucci, author, signs copies of her book after addressing The Garden Club of Elizabeth-town’s Sept. 8 meeting at the Brown-Pusey House. The Oct. 6 meeting will feature Philip Tamplin of the Louisville Audubon Society. He will speak about Bluebirds and give away five Bluebird Houses.

     

  • Vine Grove Woman's Club presents September yard of the month

    The Vine Grove Woman’s Club presented the September Yard of The Month award to Vine Grove newcomers Robert and Cleta Good at 412 W. Main St. They have done wonders with the house and yard since moving to the area.  

  • Hardin County AM Rotary welcomes CASA representatives

    Hardin County AM Rotary welcomed board members of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) to their weekly morning meeting on Sept. 12. CASA is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children under the protection of family court. They are in need of volunteers at every level of their organization.

  • Siblings announce birth of AdysenMae

     BRIANN, ADYSENMAE AND ORRY WILLIAMS Siblings announce birth of AdysenMae Orry and Briann Williams of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a sister, AdysenMae Dixie Williams, on Jan. 17, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and was 17 inches long. Parents are Brian and Shaune Williams of Elizabethtown.

  • Masterson named CHHS Student of the Month

    Central Hardin High School August Student of the Month, Kate Masterson, was introduced to the Elizabethtown Lions Club by Lion Jim Wiese, right. Kate’s academic achievements include being on the Honor Roll the last four years, having a 4.0 grade point average, being a member of Student Council, Y-Club, Beta Club, Youth in Charge (president) and being junior class president. She took first place in state in French poetry, is on the girls varsity tennis team, is vice president of the Varsity Club and a member of the Drama Club and Bruins Against Drugs.

  • USA Cares makes presentation

    Roger Stradley and Cheryl Bruce of USA Cares recently gave a presentation about USA Cares at Fort Knox for a conference hosted by Command Sgt. Maj. Robert D. Casher of the 11th Aviation Command. Eighteen units from 14 states attended. Casher presented the USA Cares representatives with a certificate of appreciation. Sgt. Harken, right, organized the event.  

  • Parents welcome Perry Christopher

    Vincent and Priscilla Jackson of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a son, Perry Christopher Jackson, on Aug. 25, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 18.5 inches long.

    Siblings are Chasity Goia, Samantha Simonette, Ashley, Zach, Hannah, Abbi and Gregory Jack-son, all of Elizabethtown.

    Grandparents are Joe L. Jackson Sr. of Elizabethtown and Karen Prince of Beech Grove, Ind.
