The Allegro Assisted living and Memory Care community hosted a Grandparent’s Day Brunch for the residents and their families on Sept. 7. The residents enjoyed their children and grandchildren and had a wonderful time making memories together while celebrating Grandparent’s Day. 1 Twylane Van Lahr, Executive Director of the Brown-Pusey House presents a Certificate of Appreciation for the many services that The Garden Club of Elizabethtown has performed for the Brown-Pusey House to Club President Joyce Effinger.

2 Karen Angelucci, author, signs copies of her book after addressing The Garden Club of Elizabeth-town’s Sept. 8 meeting at the Brown-Pusey House. The Oct. 6 meeting will feature Philip Tamplin of the Louisville Audubon Society. He will speak about Bluebirds and give away five Bluebird Houses.

Hardin County AM Rotary welcomed board members of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) to their weekly morning meeting on Sept. 12. CASA is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children under the protection of family court. They are in need of volunteers at every level of their organization.

Central Hardin High School August Student of the Month, Kate Masterson, was introduced to the Elizabethtown Lions Club by Lion Jim Wiese, right. Kate’s academic achievements include being on the Honor Roll the last four years, having a 4.0 grade point average, being a member of Student Council, Y-Club, Beta Club, Youth in Charge (president) and being junior class president. She took first place in state in French poetry, is on the girls varsity tennis team, is vice president of the Varsity Club and a member of the Drama Club and Bruins Against Drugs.
