    In Hardin County: 30 years ago, Elizabethtown City Council adopted an ordinance amending (and raising) natural gas rates; it was to go into effect on March 1. 20 years ago, funnel clouds hit locally during a storm system that blew through Hardin and LaRue counties, destroying two barns, cutting off power to some homes and flooding area roads.

    In Hardin County: 30 years ago, Hardin Memorial Hospital’s Board of Trustees made the first steps in authorizing plans to spend at least $489,000 on upgrading and replacing medical equipment at the hospital. 20 years ago, area farmers were leary of a rise in tobacco quota; the formers worried that the jump could cause a glut in the market and drive down prices.

    Both of my parents loved people. My dad used to embarrass my sister and me when, no matter where we went, he would walk up to people and say, "Where you from?" which led to a long conversation, By the end of it we felt like they were our good friends. I am very much like that.

    Gregory Cranmer Gregory Cranmer, 30, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at his residence. Survivors include his mother, Glenda F. Webster. The funeral is at 1 p.m. today at Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction with burial in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.
