    Lauren Hartlage didn’t start off her nine-hole round Wednesday the best possible way.

    Hartlage, a St. James School sixth-grader, had lessons to help straighten out her swing Tuesday. She drove the ball well early Wednesday from the driving range, but proceeded to open play at the Kentucky Junior Amateur with a double bogey on the first hole at Bardstown Country Club’s Maywood Course.

  • My Kitchen, Your Recipe: 'Blueberry Pie'

    Jamie Sizemore of Elizabethtown is sharing a Blueberry Pie recipe that her mother-in-law, who lives in Virginia, gave her. It is a unique, light pie using fresh blueberries, which Jamie says she absolutely loves.

    Jamie is publisher of The Kentucky Standard in Bardstown, but she worked here at The News-Enterprise for years. She was one of the first to share a recipe with me when the “My Kitchen, Your Recipe” column started.

  • Section of College Street Road to temporarily close this week

    ELIZABETHTOWN — A portion of College Street Road is slated to close to traffic starting Friday morning, with plans to reopen the section late Saturday. The section of the road between the U.S. 31W Bypass and the entrance to the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is scheduled to close 6 a.m. Friday and reopen by 5 p.m. Saturday, according to city officials.
