    Rose and Jim Dixon will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary at 2 p.m., Sept. 26, 2010, at Freeman Lake Park Lions Pavilion in Elizabethtown.

    They have three children, Larry, Phyllis and Melanie.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Please bring a dish.

    Erin Elizabeth Hager and Clayton Thomas Adams were married Aug. 7, 2010, at the Brown-Pusey House in Elizabethtown. The Rev. Al Johnson of Ekron officiated.

    The bride is the daughter of William and Karen Hazelwood of Elizabethtown and Philip and Betty Hager of Ekron. She is the granddaughter of Margaret Scurlock of Louisville and the late Gerald Stalter and Georgia Hager of Ekron and the late George Hager.

    Heather and James Strain of Louisville announce the birth of a daughter, Madison Victoria, on July 19, 2010, at Baptist Hospital East. She weighed 9 pounds, 11.6 ounces and was 21.5 inches long.

    Grandparents are Cheri and Dennis McCormick and Susan and Jim Strain, all of Elizabethtown.

    Great-grandmother is Mary Beverage of Jacksonville, N.C.

     Ethel Louise McDonald, 90, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010. A graveside service is at 9 a.m. Nov. 4, 2010, at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements.

  • Sibling, parents announce birth of Lacey


    Dalton Ferriss, along with Megan Clan and Robbie Ferriss, all of Elizabethtown, announce the birth of Lacey Lynique Ferriss on May 14, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19½ inches long.

    Grandparents are Rose and Rudy Ferriss and Fern and Bobby Clan, all of Elizabethtown.

    Nicole Wells of Sonora and Jason Buckles of Glendale announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Shelia Wells of Sonora. She is a graduate of Central Hardin High School, Campbellsville University and the University of Louisville School of Nursing. She is a registered nurse at Norton HealthCare.

    Jana Cocanougher Peavler of Harrodsburg and David Lee Harbolt of Lexington announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter or Eunice Best Cocanougher of Harrodsburg and the late William D. Cocanougher Sr. She is the mother of Jamie and Amber Peavler. She is employed by the Mercer County Board of Education.

    The prospective groom is the son of Juanita Adams Harbolt of Elizabethtown and the late Doran V. Harbolt. He is in the finance division at the Lexington Herald-Leader.

    Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Burd of New Haven announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kellie Suzanne Burd to Oakes Keegan Routt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Routt of Hodgenville.

    The bride-to-be is a 2005 graduate of Nelson County High School and a 2009 graduate of Morehead State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. She is employed by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs in Louisville.
