  • Club makes donation to North Hardin Project Graduation

    The Radcliff Woman’s Club donated $200 to the North Hardin High School Project Graduation which was held on June 3 at Blazer’s Fun Zone in Radcliff.

  • Vine Grove August Yard of the Month

    Retired Col. Bill and Donna Betson, and their grandson Wesley, at 702 Augusta Drive, Vine Grove, received Yard of the Month for August from the Vine Grove Woman’s Club.

    Their yard has a waterfall, many flowers, a patriotic statues and flags. This couple is truly patriotic every month of the year.


  • MOAA has July meeting

    The Fort Knox Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) held its monthly meeting July 21 at the MOAA Clubhouse, Building 297, on Fort Knox.  Following a meal, the membership was treated to a presentation.

  • Kempf speaks at Ancestral Trails meeting


    At the July meeting of the Ancestral Trails Historical Society, Gary Kempf spoke on John Baptiste Charbonneau and the tools he used as a pioneer in the West. Charbonneau was adopted as a youth by William Clark. At the next meeting on Aug. 6, Charles Hawkins will speak on the local railroads.

    The Central Hardin Lady Bruins have made six consecutive 5th Region Tournament appearances, but they are still searching for their first region title since 2000.

    The Lady Bruins reached the region final last season, falling 1-0 to Elizabethtown. It was the third time in the last six years they’ve lost to Elizabethtown in the region championship.

  • Routt celebrates 90th birthday

    Lahoma Routt celebrated her 90th birthday on Feb. 21, 2010 with five generations of family and many friends.

    She was born on Feb. 22, 1920.


  • Windstream helps build wall of food

    Windstream gave a donation of cans to Building a Wall Against Hunger at Cruisin’ the Heartland on July 17. They also donated $400 to the mission. That money will buy an additional 1,200 cans of food.


  • Majority surveyed want a YMCA



    Community leaders who have been working for about a year to bring a YMCA to the county learned last week they are not alone in their desire to have a center in the area.

    A market research study has been completed for the YMCA that Nannette Johnston, superintendent of Hardin County Schools, and other community leaders have been working to bring to the area. The results show a majority of Hardin Countians support bringing a Y to the area.

    Paul and Sara Riggs of Clarkson along with Steve and Denise Riggs of Upton announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Alexander Scott and Katelyn Renee.

    The wedding is at 4 p.m. CDT July 17, 2010, at Lone Oak Missionary Baptist Church in Clarkson.
