    ADE is an abbreviation for Alcohol Driver Education, BAC is the Blood Alcohol Concentration reading, KAPS stands for Kentucky Alternative Programs, EIP stands for Early Intervention Program and VIP stands for Victims Impact Panel.   • Elementaries make Black History Month count

    Elementary students around the county have been taking part in lessons for Black History Month during the past few weeks, with teachers ensuring lessons begin at an early age.

    One fourth grade class at Morningside Elementary School made models of historical black figures who have been featured on  postage stamps. Students had to learn about the person and give a presentation on the subjects’ lives, teacher Roseann Thrush said.

  • FRIDAY PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Price leads Bulldogs by Taylor (02/19)

    Junior guard Brandon Price scored 28 points to lead visiting John Hardin to its fifth straight win Friday night in a 64-57 victory over the Taylor County Cardinals.

    John Hardin (17-8) won for the seventh time in eight games to close the regular season.

    The Fort Knox Lady Eagles had their two-game winning streak snapped in their regular-season finale.

  • GIRLS' PREP BASKETBALL: Turner, bench lead Lady Waves past Central (02/19)

    Early in the first quarter, Meade County coach Josh Hurt thought the Lady Waves looked deflated.

    Then, their bench – and freshman forward Morgan Turner – came to the rescue and pumped them up.

    Chantale Djuna George (1989). Wanton endangerment first degree (two counts). One year in jail, serve 30 days, balance probated two years on conditions in the order. Total $210.

    Andrew Jacob Turner (1983). Volatile substance abuse. Thirty-seven days in jail, serve seven days, balance probated on conditions in the order. Total $210.

    A LITTLE SNOW. On Feb. 14, in the very early morning hours it began snowing. If the temperatures had been just right we probably would have gotten several inches but we only got possibly an inch or less. Hardin County Schools were delayed one hour. They have been very fortunate this year so far. Hopefully it will stay that way.

    NO SCHOOL. Hardin County Schools will be closed on Monday because of President’s Day.
