  • Traffic delays expected on St. John Road

    Staff Report

    Elizabethtown — Construction units will begin mobilizing heavy equipment onto the site of the proposed Elizabethtown Sports Park this week and tourism officials are urging caution when traveling along St. John Road.

    The park gate on St. John Road will serve as the temporary entrance until the main entrance opens along the West Park Road extension. Work is slated to begin on the road in July, according to the Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Bureau.

  • Mother announces birth of Mary Addison

     

    Christina Bailey of Elizabethtown announces the birth of a daughter, Mary Addison Bailey-Hayslip, on March 15, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 4½ ounces and was 19 inches long.

    The father is Christopher Michael Hayslip.

    Barbara “Bobbi” Ward Nelson, 79, of Leitchfield, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. The funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Elmhurst, Ill., with burial to follow. Rogers-Oller Funeral Home in Clarkson is in charge of arrangements.  

  • Parents welcome Jared Michael

     

    Shawn and Erin Tigges of Wilmore announce the birth of a son, Jared Michael, on April 6, 2010, at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. He weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces and was 18 ½ inches long.

    Grandparents are Michael and Suzanne Tigges of Radcliff and Randy and Jeanette Brewer of Grove City, Ohio.

    Great-grandparents are Bernard Tigges of Cincinnati, Jake Brewer of Columbus, Ohio, and Reva and Tom Stanley of Virginia.

     

  • May 6, 2010 editorial: Helping those in need always a good thing

    The Animal Refuge Center in Vine Grove has annually held Christmas parties for the pets that call the center home.

    The party is two-fold: Show the cats and dogs some love and offer the public an opportunity to adopt a pet.

    On Monday, thanks to local farm groups, the center received the first installment of what will turn into 2,000 pounds of food donated to the center.
