    30 years ago, the Hardin Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees met to hear complaints from HMH staff members and personnel about the study by the outside firm, Hospital Corporation of America. 20 years ago, Elizabethtown State Vocational-Technical School began an 11-month practical nursing program; the program was an extension of the Glasgow School for Health Occupations; 28 students from Hardin and surrounding counties had enrolled

  • Caldwell enlists in Air Force

    CALDWELL. Matavia L. Caldwell of Radcliff enlisted in the United States Air Force rank E-2 on June 28. Airman Caldwell is the daughter of Kenneth and Shirley Caldwell, both of Radcliff. She is a 2007 graduate of North Hardin High School. She graduated from Lackland Air Force base basic training on Aug. 27. She was an element leader, and received the Thunder Bolt award for being one of the top physical fit airmen.

  • Fort Duffield Hosts Labor Day Living History Program

    The Labor Day Living History program at Fort Duffield in West Point is an educational and entertaining experience for the whole family. Union and Confederate re-enactors bring to life the history of one of Kentucky’s nearly forgotten Civil War treasurers and the daily life of the Civil War soldier.

    30 years ago, the Hardin County Board of Education hired James Lee Light of Murray as band director at East Hardin High School. 20 years ago, David L. Stansberry, the current administrator of Hunt Memorial Hospital in Danvers, Mass, was named Hardin Memorial Hospital’s new administrator.

    30 years ago, it was reported that Loretta Salisbury was valedictorian and Janet Boothe was salutatorian at North Hardin High School while Margaret Lancaster was valedictorian and Cathy Peake salutatorian at Elizabethtown High School.  20 years ago, Japanese Cultural Day was celebrated at Elizabethtown Community College; events included a traditional tea ceremony, story telling, and many demonstrations and displays.
