Terry and Teresa Hornback of Elizabethtown and David and Pam Vowels of Cecilia announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Ericka Ann Vowels, to Benjamin Michael Covell, son of David and Reenie Covell of Elizabethtown.

Paul and Sherry Abbott of Elizabethtown announce the birth of a granddaughter, Ava Grace Abbott, on July 17, 2008 at Fort Bragg, N.C. She weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20 inches long. Parents are Capt. Isaiah and Kirsten Abbott of Fayetteville, N.C. Maternal grandparents are David and Cathy Collins of Mount Washington.
