    Virgil Leon Bryant

    Virgil Leon Bryant, 84, of Hodgenville, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

    A retired foreman for Kaiser Chemical in Louisville, he was a Purple Heart recipient, having served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Ovesen Heights Baptist Church.

    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Howell Bryant, and his parents, Tom and Margaret Hart Bryant.

    Barbara Snyder Houk Blair, 66, of Sonora, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009, at her residence in Sonora.

    She was a beautician, cashier and a Kentucky Colonel.

    Donald D. Bennett, 71 of North Port, Fla., died Saturday, April 25, 2009. There is a memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown.

    Ella Mae Bottoms, 92, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, June 19, 2009. The funeral is 11 a.m. today at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with burial at 3 p.m. EDT at Dixon Cemetery in Grand Rivers.

Barbara Snyder Houk Blair, 66, of Sonora, died Friday, June 19, 2009. The funeral is 11:30 a.m. today at Manakee Funeral Home in Sonora. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation continues from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

    Elbert Cook Elbert Cook, 62, of Rineyville, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Fentress County, Tenn., and served in the Army during the Vietnam and Korean wars. He was an instructor at the Fort Knox Armor School.
