So many people have it and it usually lasts around 72 hours. If you’re lucky and haven’t had it, just remember to keep chicken broth soups, crackers and Popsicles on hand.

    I have really been enjoying the spring-like weather we have been having, though I guess we need some colder weather. Our ancestors always said to freeze some of the insects. But regardless of how cold a winter we have, there always seems to be plenty that survive.

    The parents of Leeann Carothers and Tyler Nall of Hodgenville announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Christine Davis and Tim Carothers. A 2010 graduate of LaRue County High School, she is employed at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home and is a student at Elizabethtown Community & Technical College.
    The prospective groom is the son of Charles Nall and Lisa Langley. He also is a 2010 graduate of LaRue County High School, and he is employed at Nall’s Specialized Hauling.

    Bill and Nancy Ray of Vine Grove celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Jan. 14, 2012.
    They have one son, Keith Ray; two grandchil-dren; and two great-grandchildren.

  • Howletts announce birth of daughter

    Justin and Kendra Powell Howlett of Louisville announce the birth of a daughter, Elizabeth Noelle Howlett, on Dec. 17, 2011 at Baptist Hospital East. She weighed 7.01 pounds and was 19½ inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Phyllis Powell of Elizabethtown and Kenneth Powell of Clarkson. Paternal grandparents are Joseph and Cynthia Howlett of Shepherdsville.

  • Smiths welcome Delaney Renee

    Mark and Kasey Smith of Louisville announce the birth of a daughter, Delaney Renee, on Nov. 21, 2011, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. She weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces and was 21 inches long.
    Grandparents are Rick and Debbie Smith of Brandenburg and Steve and Darlene Skillman of Elizabethtown. Great-grandparents are Joyce Skillman and Mary Hibbs, both of Elizabethtown.

    Marie Colasanti and grandson, Tyler Porter, have fun making bowls for the Warm Blessings “Empty Bowls” fundraiser, which is at 4 p.m. Feb. 11.
