  • Cecilia author publishes second book

    THE NEWS-ENTERPRISE

    Cecilia author Dan Lee has published his second book, “The L&N Railroad in the Civil War: A Vital North-South Link and the Struggle to Control It.”

    The non-fiction book was published by McFarland and Company Inc. and recounts the military events along the L&N from 1861 through 1865. Among those events included are the creation of Camp Nevin near Glendale and John Hunt Morgan’s 1862 Christmas raid against the railroad trestles on Muldraugh Hill.

  • Former American Idol finalists to perform at the PAC

    Devoted “American Idol” fans might remember the names Gina Glockson, David Hernandez, Lakisha Jones and Michael Sarver. They are all top 12 finalists on previous seasons of “American Idol” and will appear in the show “American Idol Stars” in Elizabethtown.  

  • Kuklinski graduates from basic training

    KUKLINSKI. Air Force Airman Ashley N. Kuklinski graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

    She is the daughter of Tony Kuklinski of Elizabethtown.

    Kuklinski  is a 2010 graduate of Elizabethtown High School.

  • Stefanko graduates from basic training

    STEFANKO. Air Force Airman Jonathan D. Stefanko graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

    He is the son of David and Janice Stefanko of Elizabethtown.

    Stefanko graduated in 2010 from John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown.

  • Rule graduates from basic training

    RULE. Air Force Airman Brian M. Rule graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

    He is the son of David and Melanie Rule of Vine Grove.

    Rule graduated in 2010 from Meade County High School in Brandenburg.

  • Holmes attends City Night at the Capital

    Radcliff City Councilman Stan Holmes and Secretary of State Elaine Walker attend the Kentucky League of Cities City Night at the Capital.

  • Elizabethtown Woman’s Club remembers members

    The Woman’s Club of Elizabethtown honored two of their members that passed away recently. Alene Craddock and Joan Hornback were remembered with a book donated to the Hardin County library in their honor. Lessons in Likeness was presented in Hornback’s memory as she was an artist and The Words of Extraordinary Women was presented in Craddock’s memory as she was very involved in state government.

  • ABC Award Winners for February

    The Elizabethtown-Hardin County Chamber of Commerce recognizes students from area high schools for their academic achievements and extracurricular activities by presenting them with ABC (Academics Mean a Better Community) awards during the Feb. 10 Chamber Luncheon at Pritchard Community Center. The ABC sponsor this month was Wilson & Muir Bank. Jeanine Anderson from the bank presented the students with the award and $50.
