  • Sharlows celebrate 31st wedding anniversary

     

    Steven and Elsa Gonzales Sharlow of Radcliff will celebrate their 31st wedding anniversary Sept. 19, 2009.

    They were married Sept. 19, 1978 by a federal judge at Canal Zone in the Republic of Panama.

    Mr. Sharlow is employed at G4/G8 Logistics Division at Fort Knox.

    Mrs. Sharlow is a teacher at North Hardin High School.

    They are members of Church of God of Prophecy, Bethesda Ministries in Elizabethtown.

    They have two children, Aaron Sharlow of Columbia and Jeremy Sharlow of Somerset; and one grandchild.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Donald and Debbie Dunn of Elizabethtown.

    The prospective groom is the son of Julia Stillwell of Eastview.

    The wedding is at 5 p.m., Sept. 19, 2009, at the home of the bride’s parents with a reception to follow.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of North Hardin High School and the University of Kentucky with a degree in biotechnology. She is a senior project planner for a pharmaceutical company in Louisville.

  • Senior Republican Women attend national conference

    Alice Pelkey and Ruth Cobbett, of the Hardin County Senior Republican Women’s Forum, met with Republican National Committee Chairman, Michael Steele, when they attended the National Federation of Republican Women Conference in Florida last week. Both ladies served as Sergeant-at-Arms for the conference.

  • State uses message boards as reminder of highway losses

    FRANKFORT — Since 2006, electronic message boards along interstate roads in Kentucky have reported somewhat good news to drivers: a decline in the number of fatal wrecks statewide.

    That could change, however. Beginning Tuesday, Kentucky’s Office of Highway Safety starts using Kentucky's 50 electronic message boards to alert drivers to this year’s fatal collision statistics.
