  • Drug, theft cases crowd November indictments

    The Hardin County grand jury returned 31 indictments during November, most of which were theft or drug related.

    Of the 14 drug-related cases, six involved methamphetamine and another six involved cocaine.

    An indictment is an allegation, not evidence of guilt. The accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.

    Stephanie Kristen Hornback and Christopher Anthony Slater were married Oct. 21, 2011, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral in Bardstown with the Rev. William Hammer as celebrant.

    The bride is the daughter of Mark and JoAnn Miller of Sonora and the late Rondall Darrell Hornback.

    The groom is the son of Mary Slater of Louisville and the late John Kenneth Slater.

    The couple will reside in Louisville.

    Samantha Ryan of Rineyville and Josh Hart of Rineyville announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Michael and Gina Ryan of Rineyville. She is a 2005 graduate of North Hardin High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Louisville. She is a preschool teacher at Creekside Elementary School in Sonora.

  • Dunaways celebrate 50th anniversary

    Robert and Rosanna Dunaway celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by traveling for a month throughout the southwestern states.

    They were married Nov. 22, 1961 at Stovall United Methodist Church in Radcliff.

    Mr. Dunaway is a retired Hardin County Schools administrator, and Mrs. Dunaway is retired from civil service. Mr. Dunaway is currently a licensed funeral director and Mrs. Dunaway is an associate at Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

  • Tingles celebrate 50th anniversary

    Tom and Margarita Becerra Tingle of Elizabethtown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 10, 2011 at Youngers Creek Baptist Church with family and friends.

    They were married Dec. 9, 1961 in Yoakum, Texas.

    Mr. Tingle is retired from the Army and from Ireland Army Hospital at Fort Knox. He is a member of Youngers Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Tingle is retired from Central Issue at Fort Knox and is also a member of Youngers Creek Baptist Church.

  • Vertreeses celebrate 50th anniversary

    Richard and Sue Carol Hatfield Vertrees will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 15, 2011.

    They were married Dec. 15, 1961, at Longview United Methodist Church with the Rev. Walter B. White Jr. officiating.

    Mr. Vertrees is retired from civil service at Fort Knox, and Mrs. Vertrees retired from Rineyville Elementary School.

    They are the parents of Sherry Irwin of Memphis, Tenn., and DeeDee Richardson of Elizabethtown.

    They will celebrate with their family at Christmas time.

  • Allens celebrate 65th anniversary

    The Rev. and Mrs. L. Clyde Allen of Hodgenville will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Dec. 23, 2011.

    They were married by Dr. A.C. Baker in Louisville.

    Mrs. Allen is the daughter of the late Joel and Margaret Dixon. She is a graduate of Magnolia High School, Spencerian Business College and attended the University of Louisville before accepting employment with H.V. Davis & Son Insurance Agency in Louisville. She also worked in the Nursing Service Office at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta for 16 years.
