  • Mother announces birth of Mary Addison

     

    Christina Bailey of Elizabethtown announces the birth of a daughter, Mary Addison Bailey-Hayslip, on March 15, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 4½ ounces and was 19 inches long.

    The father is Christopher Michael Hayslip.

    Barbara “Bobbi” Ward Nelson, 79, of Leitchfield, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. The funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Elmhurst, Ill., with burial to follow. Rogers-Oller Funeral Home in Clarkson is in charge of arrangements.  

  • Parents welcome Jared Michael

     

    Shawn and Erin Tigges of Wilmore announce the birth of a son, Jared Michael, on April 6, 2010, at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. He weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces and was 18 ½ inches long.

    Grandparents are Michael and Suzanne Tigges of Radcliff and Randy and Jeanette Brewer of Grove City, Ohio.

    Great-grandparents are Bernard Tigges of Cincinnati, Jake Brewer of Columbus, Ohio, and Reva and Tom Stanley of Virginia.

     

  • May 6, 2010 editorial: Helping those in need always a good thing

    The Animal Refuge Center in Vine Grove has annually held Christmas parties for the pets that call the center home.

    The party is two-fold: Show the cats and dogs some love and offer the public an opportunity to adopt a pet.

    On Monday, thanks to local farm groups, the center received the first installment of what will turn into 2,000 pounds of food donated to the center.

  • TOPS Kentucky No. 113 installs officers

    TOPS Kentucky No. 113 of Vine Grove had their installation of officers on April 20. The group meets each Tuesday evening in the basement of the United Methodist Church on Church Street in Vine Grove.   • Blakeman celebrates 90th birthday

     

    Tillie Blakeman of Elizabethtown celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends on May 23, 2010, at Helmwood Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

    She was employed by E’town Sportswear and is a member of First Christian Church.

    She has two children, Tom Blakeman and Brenda Mills, both of Elizabethtown; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

    On May 8, North Hardin High School hosted more than 45 teams from throughout Kentucky during the annual North Hardin High School Track and Field Invitational.

  • Elizabethtown Lions Club holds Kids Vote

    Elizabethtown Lions Club President Travis Langdon presents Reva Hart, representative of Kids’ Vote, with a donation from the club in support of the program. Lions Club members also participate in the Kids’ Vote program by volunteering to be present at the polls to assist the children. It is hoped that early exposure to the voting process will show youth the importance of voting and establish the desire to do so when they become voting age.
