    HARDIN COUNTY – Hardin County government now is among a relatively small group of Kentucky employers and the only county statewide to be a drug-free workplace as certified by a state program.

    ELIZABETHTOWN — Elizabethtown’s summer concert is rolling out classic rock acts Creedence Clearwater Revisited and Foghat on Aug. 15 at Freeman Lake Park, and tickets go on sale July 6.

  • Concert ads to benefit United Way

    ELIZABETHTOWN — The city of Elizabethtown will give back in more ways than one during the Aug. 15 summer concert at Freeman Lake Park.

    Councilmen Kenny Lewis and Marty Fulkerson said the city wanted to help out the United Way, which has felt the blows of the economic downturn. In doing so, the city will allow businesses to post banners or signs at the park for a $100 fee to advertise during the concert. The proceeds will be presented to United Way in between band performances.

     Lynn David Cates

    Lynn David Cates, 92, of Radcliff, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Bluegrass Assisted Living in Elizabethtown.

    He was the owner of Midway Cafe in Horse Cave and co-owner of David’s Car Wash in Radcliff. He also was a member of the Kosair Shriners and the Masonic Lodge in Horse Cave. Mr. Cates was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.

    He was preceded in death by his son, David Cates.
