  • Club honors Martha Mengel, Hall of Fame Award recipient


    Earlier in the summer, the Elizabethtown Junior Woman’s Club (EJWC), honored its 17th annual Hall of Fame Award recipient, Martha Mengel.

    The EJWC Hall of Fame Award is given annually to a woman in the community to honor her and show appreciation for her years of volunteer community service. Recipients are women who take pride in their community and who care about the people around them, and are not afraid to get involved. .

  • Ray graduates from basic military training

    RAY. Air National Guard Airman Aaron D. Ray graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

    He is the son of Breneia Carrier of Loveland, Ohio, and Marcus Ray Radcliff.

    Ray is a 2008 graduate of Live Oaks Vocational School in Milford, Ohio.

    WAITERS. Pfc. Eboni Waiters graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Training at Parris Island, S.C. on Aug. 21, 2009. The daughter of Gail D. Richardson, she is a former student of Liberty High School and is currently enjoying recruit leave in her hometown of Radcliff. Upon completioni of Military Occupational Specialty School, MCT Camp Geiger, she will report to duty on the east coast, west coast or overseas.

  • Hardin County clubs raise nearly $1 million for Kosair Kids


    After 44 years of supporting Kosair Charities through the annual Brotherhood Banquet, the Riasok Shrine Club and Elizabethtown Knights of Columbus have raised nearly $1 million for Kosair Kids.

    The idea for the event came from two friends, William J. Harris and Thomas R. Clark Sr., over a cup of coffee. This year’s banquet raised $20,000.

    Buz and Bonnie Elder of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Amy Elder, to Robert Green, son of James and Incha Green of Elizabethtown.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of the University of Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in accountancy.

    The prospective groom is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing.

    Dr. Michael Owsley, right, of the Elizabethtown Noon Rotary club recently graduated from the Rotary Leadership Institute after completing Part 3 of the training program. The focus of RLI is on fostering a better understanding of the various programs and service avenues provided by the Rotary club at the local and international level.     Natalie Danielle Close and Jason Conleigh Riggs were married June 20, 2009, at Gulf State Park in Orange Beach, Ala., by former pastor and longtime friend of the bride’s family, Jerry Hack.

    The bride is the daughter of Danny and Sandra Close of Bowling Green, and the groom is the son of Conleigh and Susan Riggs of Elizabethtown.
